Hear It From Me

When I was in 5th grade, I won an elocution competition. That time, I didn't even know the meaning behind the poem I was reciting infront of hundreds of people. By winning that contest, I got a book by Enid Blyton as a prize. I was contented and at the same time, so dumb to even think that novels are meant to be read. So I kept it as a showpiece on one of the shelves of my desk.
Years passed, and the pages turned brown. On one fine day, when I was fed up of making my maths project, I thought to do something else. That's when I picked up that so called "showpiece". When I started reading it, I couldn't keep it down. And that's how it all began. I started appreciating the way authors wrote. Their way of putting simple words into fascinating sentences, delighted me. When I finsihed it, I wanted more. I started with reading 1 book a month, and now it's around 7 a month. I struggled with getting a book to read as they weren't cheap, and my pocket money, till date, can only afford one. So I started borrowing, issuing it from the library and what not. I do this even today. Who doesn't? I even started chronicling my life in pages, and gave poetry a shot and later did I realise how much I adored writing. I started putting down my words in essay competitions and debates without using any search engines and that's when it hit me. I had the power to put my thoughts in words. I could write about anything (only if I knew about it). A few days ago, I was listening to a podcast of one of my favorite youtubers, Emma Chamberlain and that's when she mentioned "WIX". I thought it was just about the right thing to do.

And so I am here. Writing.

Thank you Enid and Emma for making it happen.
